Welcome from the Chair

Sian Armitage
Chair of Governors

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,

On behalf of the board, I would like to warmly welcome you to Streatley C of E Primary School.

Streatley C of E school is a warm and nurturing place where every child is seen as an individual and they work together as a team to achieve their best.  The result can be clearly seen when you visit and see ‘happy, healthy humans’.  The community at school is strong, and the governing board are very proud of what the school achieves day to day. The governors work closely supporting the headteacher, teaching staff, support staff and pupils. We all share a collective aim for the school to be best it can be.

The role of the Governing Board is to ensure the schools statutory obligations are met in addition to reviewing and monitoring objectives, planning for the future, and to make sure the vision for the school is both challenging and realistic. It is the responsibility of the headteacher to run the school, however, it is the role of the Governing Board to support and strengthen a headteacher’s leadership, and to hold them accountable for the performance of children and staff.

Our governing board has a wide range of skills and experiences which creates a brilliant team who work together to enhance the leadership and management of the school.  The whole governing board meets once every half term.  We also have sub-committees that cover staffing, curriculum, and finance.  All members of the board are listed on the website.

The school and governors are very well supported by the parents.  We greatly appreciate all the fundraising by FOSS which continues to enrich and support the opportunities on offer to all pupils at Streatley school.  The governors feel privileged to be part of such a happy and thriving school.
