Governing Board

The Governing Board of Streatley C of E Primary School comprises nine members appointed from the community, including representatives from the Local Authority, Foundation, Parents, and Staff Governors. Each member contributes unique perspectives, skills, and experiences to the team. We share a steadfast belief in the potential of Streatley School and affirm that there are no limits to its achievements. Most of us reside in and around the Streatley area, cherishing our role within both the local community and the Streatley family.

As Governors, we are responsible for establishing the vision, values, and strategy for our school, ensuring their effective implementation. Our statutory duties include safeguarding children during their time at school and managing our finances responsibly. The term "Critical Friend" aptly describes our approach as a Governing Board; we support the Headteacher and staff while also providing scrutiny and challenge, as we are ultimately accountable for the school's overall performance.

We convene as a full Governing Board each term. To fulfil our responsibilities, including individual Governor assignments, we conduct regular visits to the school by appointment.

We take pride in our deep understanding of the school and our close working relationship with Miss Roberts and her team. In fulfilling our responsibilities, we strive to engage with all stakeholders connected to the school, including pupils, parents, teachers, the church, and the wider community. We actively participate in school activities and functions where possible, such as musical and theatrical productions, the summer fête, assemblies, church services, and the renowned Easter Egg Rolling down Lardon Chase.

Parents are encouraged to contact us via the Clerk to the Governors through the School Office at telephone 01491 872399 or by email at clerk@sps.w-berks.sch.uk. The Clerk can also provide copies of the minutes from Governing Board meetings to anyone who requests them free of charge.

As volunteers, we dedicate our time because we believe that a thriving community is essential to the success of our school. We take great pride in the many parents and local individuals who support our school.
